SAN DIEGO– On Saturday, February 16th, fathers and their daughters will be getting ‘red carpet ready’ for a captivating evening of dancing at the Armed Services YMCA San Diego’s  7th Annual Father & Daughter Dance: A Night in the Spotlight.  Dressed in their finest gowns, military uniform, and dancing shoes, guests will enjoy the Hollywood themed atmosphere. Sponsored again by TriWest, this special night for military dads creates lifelong memories with their daughters and continues to be a sellout event for the Armed Services YMCA San Diego (ASY). 500 guests from 195 families are expected at this premier family bonding event.

Guests will be greeted by the flashing lights of paparazzi as they walk down the red carpet into the ballroom. Besides dancing to DJ tunes, guests can expect to enjoy a delicious meal, a variety of activities, party favors, as well as live entertainment from the Bunnell Strings.  In between dancing and other fun, participants can make their way to the free candid photo booth or professional event photography station which will allow each family to go home with lasting memories. The highlight of the night will surely be the quality family bonding time that active duty service members, veterans, and retired military will be able to have with their daughters—ranging from toddlers to young ladies.

Many fathers who plan to attend have recently returned from overseas or have orders to depart soon. Lyndsay Neer, Program Director of Family and Youth Enrichment, comments: “Deployments, family separations, and relocations can all take a toll on the special relationship girls have with their father.  The ASY is so proud to offer this event so families can strengthen those important bonds and have wonderful memories to look back on. We are so fortunate to have the support of Triwest to make this event possible for our families. They truly look forward to it all year long. ”
